Poiema HeART — faith-inspired mixed media fine art by Paul Pro

Faith-Inspired Mixed Media

A story worth
bringing home.

Original plaster relief and mixed-media works rooted in Scripture. Each piece is built in texture and dimension to carry a story — one that keeps speaking long after it hangs on your wall.

Stories now living
in other homes.

Words from the people who have brought a piece home — and from the spaces where these works now speak every day.

The Lost Coin hangs in our living room and it stops people mid-sentence. Guests always ask about it, and I get to share the story from Luke every single time. The texture in person is even more striking than the photos — it has completely transformed the room.

We bought Iron Sharpens Iron as a gift for our son’s first office. He told us it’s the one thing in the room everyone comments on. Knowing the story and the scripture behind it made it feel like so much more than a piece of art.

We commissioned a piece for our main lobby and the process was thoughtful from start to finish. Paul listened to what the space meant to us and delivered a work that feels both powerful and deeply personal. It has become a genuine conversation piece with our clients.

The Sign was the first piece of fine art I’ve ever owned, and I couldn’t have chosen better. It hangs where I see it every morning — a quiet reminder of hope before the day starts. The plaster detail is beautiful up close.

Seeing Darkness Cannot Overcome in person was moving in a way I didn’t expect from a painting. The way the light breaks through the surface is something you have to experience. Our small group has had some of our best conversations in front of it.

We wanted a work for our foyer that would welcome people and point them to the Gospel. The finished piece does exactly that — members and visitors alike stop to take it in, and it has opened doors to share our faith more naturally.

The Process

Texture is the
language.

These are not prints of paintings. They are sculptural surfaces — plaster, relief, and mixed media — that catch light differently through the day and reward standing close.

01

Scripture First

Each piece begins with a passage — a parable, a psalm, a proverb — and the question of what that truth might look like if it could be touched.

02

Built in Plaster

Layers of plaster and mixed-media elements are worked onto the canvas, then carved, stamped, and shaped until the surface holds real depth and movement.

03

Finished by Hand

Pigments, stains, and patinas are applied to bring out the relief — techniques drawn from years spent among architectural finishes and natural materials.

Poiema HeART

Faith-Inspired Fine Art

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works."

— Ephesians 2:10

Poiema HeART is my faith-based fine art brand. My goal is to create more than beautiful artwork for a home — I want each piece to communicate a story, inspire reflection, and open the door to meaningful conversations about the Gospel and Biblical truth.

My work is inspired primarily by Scripture and Biblical narratives. I want these pieces to serve as visual reminders of faith and as conversation starters that make it easier to share the Gospel with others — meaningful and collectible, rather than simply decorative.

Visually, my work has a distinctive mixed-media aesthetic. Texture is central to my artistic language: I use plaster and other mixed-media elements to create dimensional surfaces, depth, movement, and an almost sculptural quality within each painting.

Acquiring an original Poiema HeART piece is not simply purchasing artwork. It is bringing a story into your home — a story that can continue to speak, inspire, and create opportunities to share faith with others.

"I have this strong urge calling me to paint."

— the moment everything changed

01 — Beginnings

From an early age, I was drawn to art — not simply to look at it, but to create it.

Growing up with limited resources, drawing became a way for me to imagine and create things I could not otherwise have experienced or afforded. My earliest subjects — cars, machines, anything with wheels — eventually gave way to a deeper interest in watercolor, design, and the creative process.

When my family moved from Ukraine to the United States, an entirely new world of creative possibilities opened before me. Throughout school and university, I pursued opportunities to study art and design while continuing to develop my skills alongside my formal education.

02 — Craft & Materials

My creative journey was shaped by experiences far outside the traditional art world: painting houses for an architectural painting company, mastering color theory, pigments, and stains at Sherwin-Williams, and later managing high-end residential construction projects from the ground up.

Working closely with designers, craftsmen, finishes, and a wide variety of natural and architectural materials profoundly influenced my artistic approach. Many of those materials and techniques would eventually find their way onto my canvases.

03 — The Calling

Then came a moment that changed the direction of my life.

"I have this strong urge calling me to paint," I told my wife. Looking back, I believe that calling came from the Lord — a prompting to take the talent I had been given and use it for His purpose. My wife has been an unwavering source of encouragement throughout this journey.

Today, I create faith-inspired mixed-media artwork rooted in Scripture and Biblical stories — drawn to texture, dimension, and the physical qualities of plaster and other materials that give each work depth and presence.

For me, art is not simply something to be seen. It is something meant to be experienced, remembered, and shared.

Questions

Good to
know.

Originals are crated or boxed with corner protection and shipped fully insured within the United States. Larger pieces are quoted individually, and hand delivery can be arranged locally.

Dust gently with a soft, dry brush — never a damp cloth or cleaning product. Hang away from direct sunlight and out of consistently humid rooms, and the surface will hold its finish for decades.

Prints are giclée reproductions on heavyweight archival matte paper, photographed under raking light so the texture of the original still reads. They ship unframed and rolled or flat depending on size.

Yes. Most commissions start with a passage that means something to you. Use the commission form and we will talk through subject, scale, palette, and timeline before anything begins.

Plaster work needs time to build and cure. Most commissions take eight to sixteen weeks from approved sketch to delivery, depending on size and complexity.

Prints may be returned within 14 days if unused and undamaged. Originals and commissioned works are final sale, so we take time up front to be sure the piece is right for your space.
